Do you have a klinkhammer in your box? Well if you don't Joe Mathis can show you how to tie one.

Joe has created FlyRecipes.com, a website for anglers to collaborate and provide instructions on how to tie thousands of different types of flies. His site FlyRecipes.com is an incredible resource for fly tiers. Some of the recipes include some amazing photographic instructions.

One of the amazing contributors to the site is PikeFFArticles from Finland (He has is own blog named Pike Fly Fishing Articles which I need to check out next). Take a look at his Widow Angel Pike Streamer it looks like a piece of artwork.

With the help of folks from YouTube, Joe is assembling an impressive video library as well. You really need to check out the site for some of these really cool flies.

Fly Recipes Site Contains: Over 2000 Recipes, Over 300 Videos, Trophies Photo Section and Forum.

Does anyone know what the star ratings are for? Ease of tie? Usefulness for type of fish? "Prettiest"?

except for maybe Erie. I rarely if ever use the stream reports to direct me where to go. I have fished places in spite of stream reports in the past. Sometimes I read them and think..."I should get there soon." or "glad I didn't drive all the way over there today". I do enjoy reading of others success and general conditions.

Im with tom on this one.

I have never used a stream report to make up my mind weather or not to fish a stream. However since i fish for wild trout 90 percent of the time.......the stream reports wont help me. Most of us (with good reason) donot post about wild trout streams. I do read all the stream reports and enjoy them very much. It is a valuable tool for us to share information on various watersheds, brag a bit ;-) and just share our experiences.

What ever happened to making the stream report section only open to forum members with so many posts? I remember this got tossed around awhile back. Anyways i would feel a bit more secure to post about "other streams" if this was the way it was.

Anyways, Dave this is by far, hands down, the best FF site online. If you change anything, dont change much. Its pretty just they way it is 🙂 Thank you for giving us a place to assemble 🙂

I wish I could've responded as the first option, as there are a lot of stream reports from waters that I've never been able to fish, but would really like to. When I get a chance to take a long weekend and head to SC PA, I'll read through the stream reports on here, and use that as a starting point, or at least an idea of where I might like to try. I'll probably ask some of the forum members for some general advice on hatches, fly selection etc.
I've been bouncing around on a bunch of different FF and general fishing forums for 8 or 9 years now, and this is the only one I've found that actually feels to me like a community of like minded fisherpersons, pretty much the opposite of fisherie (I love it!). I know I'm new to the forum, but I feel that my impression is an accurate one.

I read them for entertainment purposes.

For me- conditions change so rapidly that alot of information will be meaningless in a few days etc...

I do enjoy hearing people's stories the most- their struggles, boneheaded moves and of course successes. Also, I enjoy peoples enthusiasm for fly fishing that is obvious in member posts. Fish on.

I read them for entertainment value, and general conditions. If I read a report on penns in june, I'll probably look for a water temp. That's about the extent of it.

I occasionally will put a tactic or two from reports in my memory bank, but my backlog of things that I want to try is already huge.

I'll second Sal's comments about the overall quality and design of this site.

As for Reports: I enjoy hearing about other's fishing trips and I'll add one of my own from time to time. Although primarily a community of trout fishermen, I try to post reports on warm water fishing as these areas and waters are often overlooked and underutilized by FFers.

Sal,

For now I am going to keep the Stream Reports open. As you can imagine it is a very popular area of the site. Since there is no Pay Wall to the site, if I did close it out to members only people would just need to be a member to see it anyway. Not a big hurdle to get past. I think there are a lot of lurkers, about 80% of the traffic is my guess, don't necessarily want to jump into forum and even be seen. So I am going to leave the Stream Reports open and hope the guests will spend time on the site and join in when they feel comfortable doing so.

Not many big changes planned on my end. The site and style design is getting to be about 4 years old. If I could map that out for 2010 that would be about all I could handle in changes. The Blog has been a big addition for me and want to get a litle more creative with what I am doing with that.

Thanks for the feedback.

I enjoy reading reports! I don't think I've ever went to a stream just because of a report, although if Im going to go to one of the streams, I try to remember certain things, from the report!
