I just got this rod from an 87 year old gentleman whose health caused him to give up fishing. He told me he has owned the rod since purchasing it new from Orvis. I’d judge the rod as being in good to good+ condition overall. The factory tube is in average condition, with signs consistent with its age and use, and although I have the original cloth bag that came with the rod, some of its stitching has come apart, so I’m including a new bag with the rod.
The rod dates from 03/1987 (see butt plate). The down locking reel seat is in nice, clean condition, and the cork handle is reasonably clean with some signs of use. The guides are all tightly wrapped and in straight alignment, but appear as though (for whatever reason) some of the epoxy coating bled through the thread wraps. That is purely cosmetic from what I can tell.
The rod blank is unsanded and completely free from any nicks, scratches, etc. (The Orvis logo and rod description have, however, largely worn off above the cork grip and are barely legible).
I would like $250.00 for the rod. It can be picked up in the Lancaster, PA area or I’ll ship it for the actual shipping cost. Send me a private message here to arrange purchase or with any questions.
