“We have learned that harvest by anglers can remove over 25% of the local population, which goes a long way toward reducing snakehead numbers. For this reason we encourage anglers to target and harvest Northern Snakehead when captured.
Although it is doubtful that complete eradication can be achieved, control efforts have been successful. With the help of the public we can continue to control populations of Northern Snakehead where they exist, which should help minimize future negative impacts.”
Post proof of kill photos, location of catch, and type of postmortem use( consumption, food bank donation, sale of meat, garden fertilizer ect)
I will call some farm to table places in PA, see if its legal to sell them, and post contacts of any interested businesses on here. Apparently can be $6-8 per pound in DC.
PA fish and Boat’s Sean Hartzell can point you to the nearest lake near where snakeheads can be removed. He is also the person to notify if you have information on illegal possession/release of live snakeheads.
