I've been lurking for a while here and thought I'd introduce myself. Hopefully there won't be any garbage thrown at me when I say that 1) I'm not in Pennsylvania anymore and 2) I'm not a fly fisherman.
Now, to the first point...I was in PA for my entire life until last summer, when I married a lovely lady who is active duty and I moved to be with her at her location in the Midwest. We fully hope and plan to eventually end up back in PA.
To the second point, I'm an avid...spin fisherman. However, I'm strictly catch and release, been using barbless fly hooks for all but my first year of fishing, and have much love for my fly fishing friends. My background is in environmental work and I am very familiar with the northwest/North Central part of PA thanks to work and my favorite hobbies (trout fishing and backpacking/hiking). I've been impressed with the knowledge here that I've read about streams and water quality issues in the state, which are of course near and dear to my heart. My primary interest is native brook trout fishing on small waters, really have no time for stocked trout and browns are just a side hobby in between brook trout ventures.
Anyway, I'm a vigorous tracker of my fishing stats and since my dad and I started hitting the woods in search of trout, we are a bit north of 5300 trout caught. Primary haunts are in Warren and McKean County, although we've done a lot of fishing in Elk, Potter, and Clinton as well with a fair number of day trips in Clearfield, Tioga and Lycoming.
Happy fishing to all!
