Folks, I’m looking for a fly fishing themed flask for my favorite flyfishing partner and friend. I’m seeing a lot of glossy photos… but I’m looking for a great gift as you only get one chance to say “Thank you for a lifetime of enjoyment “

I imagine Etsy will have lots of options.
That’s true. Wanted to see if anyone had experience with anything to speak to quality.

What ever you get, try to avoid anything lazer etched or painted. When it's used enough it just simply starts to show wear. Id go with something all pewter or stainless. Also it would be nice for it to have a case IMO.
This way he can get to it easily and doesn't have to make room in how ever he carries his gear.

I just use a plain simple stainless flask. I'd also read reviews on it's top possibly leaking. It's one of the most important features of a flask is how it opens and closes.

The one on Orvis looks really nice and beautiful. The reviews show it has had leaking issues. Orvis has shown to make good and supply one that doesn't, so if you get him that one, I'd test it with his favorite poison. Then you can give it to him full too.😉 However it doesn't have an attachment on the cap, so if you open it and drop the cap on the creek, you might have a problem. That is a deal breaker for me.

There's interesting stuff, some vintage, on eBay. There is also a bunch of junk. Might be worth a look.

My wife got this one for me in England many years ago. It was made in Sheffield, England, by the English Pewter Co. I’ve never used mine, so I can’t attest to its quality, but it’s certainly fly fishing themed. If you do a check of their website you’ll see they do offer at least one fly fishing themed pewter flask, and several other related items.

I was gifted this several years ago. And it’s holding up pretty well. I know few guys on this board have held it. Looking into the pewter…
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

MFC has some that look kinda cool.

This also is rad:

But it's not in any way a fishing company, it's crazy expensive, and I imagine it might have durability issues, as raised above.

Could also forego the flask and cut straight to a nice bottle of bourbon to put in yall

I've carried flasks forever...

All have been pewter, all made by Sheffield in England. The first one was sold by Orvis many moons ago and was embossed with a fisherman in a stream on one side and a jumping trout on the other. It looked like this:

It was a nice flask but bigger than I needed so I retired it for something smaller.

This 2.5 oz Orvis branded Sheffield pewter flask was the replacement. I like the smaller flask MUCH better so I keep a stash of spirits & a pewter funnel in a gear bag in the back of my SUV and refill it when necessary.

I also have a couple of plain 2.5 oz unadorned Sheffield pewter flasks I use in other bags & pouches plus a larger pewter flask with a built in shot cup.
