Abnormal catch

Is Crabby stocked? I thought Crabby had brookies at one point but they were gone. Last I heard, I thought the Crabby restoration hadn't gone as well as planned.
They were planted from another creek in the region with natural reproduction, I believe.

That's kinda my thought as well. I feel like we would've had more instances of this happening.

My only other thought is schools raising fry for classes that are later released. I think that was the case a few years back on Pigeon or Allegheny creek.

Nice surprise though.
I think TIC is all bows now?

Correct, this was apparently years ago on the Wyomissing in Mohnton, before transitioning to rainbows.

Mike that post's here frequently confirmed that a school had released them in about a 100 yd stretch of creek.

At work a few years ago we had a 12" catfish fall out of the sky and land next our plane. Clumsy hawk dropped it.

Obviously a brook trout, that appears to be wild. I've heard there's a trib to upper Valley that holds natives. Don't know how accurate that is though. Either way, that's a very unusual Valley catch!
The trib Crabby Creek that others are referencing is a trib to Little Valley which enters Valley kind of in the mid section (so it's not that close to Valley headwaters). It could be from there in theory but it's a long shot since those brook trout have been gone for a few years now, and it looks stocked anyway. I've caught large stocked rainbows in a section of Valley before, some landowner was dumping a few in their front yard.

Additionally the trout habitat in upper portions of Little Valley has been utterly destroyed by runoff the past 10-15 years and I think Valley itself is in far better shape than Little Valley re: potential for supporting a few stray brook trout. It's not impossible for there to be a few wild brook trout somewhere in that watershed but that particular fish isn't.

One time I had a dead squirrel hit my driver's side mirror while driving down the highway. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a hawk picking up the squirrel on the side of the road. It had dropped it from above the highway.

At one time many years ago some brookies were transplanted from another stream into Crabby Creek during on of the many Crabby Creek restorations. I think the only thing actively happening at Crabby now is some water temperature monitoring and some storm water remediation projects when funds are available. A brookie caught up by the nature preserve is most probably a implant from someone.
