never fished the beaverkill before, i have fished the willow, going to camp at beaverkill campground and explore.

not really knowing where i'm going i'd love to have some tips on access/spots before i get there if anyone would care to share some. should be fun!

My favorite pools are Cairns, Barnhart and Cemetery. But there is so much good water!!

If you just drive along old Rte 17 the state has lots of roadside parking. If you see bugs or fish rising, just wade on in.

Flows are great right now and the bugs are showing up. You picked a great time to go.

Traditionally, back in the days of FAOL, this next week of Memorial Day is Bug Week up there. I've done this for decades. Hopefully the late spring that has plagued PA is more of an asset in the Catskills.

I fish the Beaverkill on a regular basis. The famous pools can be great, but you will probably find the crowds there as well. Without spot burning, I would just say that there is a lot of great water in between the famous and well-known locations that you could spend a lifetime exploring. A stop at Trouttown Flies in Roscoe is always a great place to get up to date info on what's happening. And as stated above, a drive along old Rt 17 out of Roscoe heading towards Horton will reveal lots of parking and access points.

Be prepared with larger sulphers and ISO's now. I just came back from three days up there. Still some March Browns on the water but the sulphers are starting to take over as the predominate hatch. Also, the caddis are starting to kick in.....Dark blue sedge, tan and brown. They can be so prolific that they are frustrating to fish.... just sooooo many on the water, your fly doesn't stand a chance.

Check out the public fishing right maps from the NYSDEC. Lots of good information for parking. Driving on rt. 17 from Hancock, you'll pass a ton of good looking water. Good advice from others. I was up that way a month ago but got rained out, and ended up focusing on the Willow.

If you are in search of good food, check out The Junction in Roscoe. Catskill, Roscoe, and Upward are good breweries too! My wife and I really liked Catskill Coffee Lodge too
