If Sunday Hunting Bill Passes, Is It Going to Mess with Your Sundays on the SGLs?

I personally have some spots I only fish on Sundays in the fall, either in SGLs or private access. I am not a religious man, nor a hunter, but I respect another's right to have a day in the woods without me fishing below his treestand.

Anyone one else have reservations about the expansion of Sunday hunting? Just buy more blaze orange and business as usual? Change your hours? Stay home? Just curious what opinions are on the matter on a fishing forum.

I've never had any problems on SGL's, or in State Forests on Monday through Saturday, I doubt I'll be troubled by Sunday hunting.

Personally, I think it's great that PA has taken one small step out of medieval times.

Might mess with some’s dress code! Might have to sprinkle a little blaze into the wardrobe. I’ve gotten into the habit of always carrying both an orange hat and an orange Coozie or Koozie (spellcheck?) around my sling’s strap. They sit dead center on my back and aren’t visible as I work upstream. Plus, I can put the hat on if I feel like it and if I get a trailmagic beer gifted to me, I can keep it cold a little bit longer.

The Sunday hunting should help the kids and 9-5 , Monday-Friday workers get more time afield.

Yeah, thanks, Tim. I wonder if there are practical reasons to keep it the same, since the practical reasons to allow hunters who only have the weekends to hunt seems more obvious.

Gamelands exist for the primary purpose of hunting and trapping.

Those users not engaging in either of those activities, especially those who do not purchase a hunting or furtakers licenses, should consider themselves guests and be aware of the primary user groups needs and desires.

And are funded/purchased with hunting license dollars, not fishing license dollars. So, non-hunters are lucky to have the MANY SGL stream miles to fish.

Yeah, I think most folks for whom this post has any relevance at all not only know that but are in full support of your premise. I am gaging opinions about a change to a decades long practice of no hunting on Sundays and how that might affect how we use the creeks in SGLS on Sundays.

This bill would also affect any private land that is both hunted and fished, not just SGLs.

Plenty of dog walkers and mountain bikers, however, who may not know the deal.

It'll change my approach for sure. During hunting season, I'd take advantage of the combination of no-hunt Sundays and the seasonal gameland road openings (that are typically closed) to hit a few streams I wouldn't during any other time of the year. I'll probably re-think that.

I do fish a couple of other days during hunting season but usually target the brookie streams that are in the types of gorges there ain't nobody hunting or dragging a deer out of.

I always go heavy on blaze during the season.
