Has anyone done any fly fishing for salmon in Cape Brenton NS? Heading up there late July early August and thought I’d wet a line. Are the salmon any good to eat in the rivers or are they on their way to death and decay and not advisable? Any information to get my research more focused is appreciated. Flys/rods/guides/setup/rivers/etc. any help is appreciated.

It’s my understanding that you cannot keep any salmon in Nova Scotia. As for decay, Atlantic salmon are different than pacific salmon in that some percentage will return to the ocean after they spawn. Their populations have been hurting and are heavily managed. I’ve been looking into taking a DIY trip for a couple of years, be sure to read up on all your regulations as there are some provinces that do not allow nonresidents to fish without a guide/resident. If you do end up fishing while there I’d love to know how you do, good luck!
