Why is there a time limit to edit or delete your own thread or posting without reporting to a moderator or administrator?

BTW the time limit to edit/delete your own thread is six hours. After that you cannot make any changes.
Can we change that? As in, say a newbie wants to go back and revise his intro to remove a bit of personal info but its 3+ days on.

Or, someone decides to remove what IP they might have shared before leaving the site for good. ?? (Saw that happen)

You could always just make a request to one of the mods to delete a post and explain why.

I'm not sure about the correct length of time and what is best. Many social media sites are less than 30 mins if at all. So six hours is pretty generous. I actually have toyed with the idea of making it one hour.

Yes if you have a major issue with a post reach out to the mods explain the issue and why you want to changed.
