Wapsi is UTC. I don’t know that they sell thread under the name Wapsi, if so I have never seen it.Given the same denier and strength, is the only difference is Wapsi is waxed and UTC is not?
That is certainly an opinion, one which not everyone shares. And they both suck compared to Veevus
Ive only got so many instances of having the thread catch, fray and break during the whip finish knot on an otherwise perfectly proportioned catskill dry that took me 10 min to tie before I gave up on UTC altogether. Their colors fade super fast too.I tie with UTC and Veevus and Danville and use them all for different reasons. Some batches of UTC 70 seem to break easier than others. If you want small diameter high strength use a GSP thread. I like Semperfli for that.
One thing I learned is that thread color does not really matter and you likely do not need more than a few colors. I use markers to color the thread when I need.

Agree with this. I have been using a ton of Veevus/Semper Fli recently but have hundreds of spools of 12/0 Giorgio Benecchi that I love as well. By the way, the Benecchi is unwaxed. And they both suck compared to Veevus
Ive tried it, and do use a couple spools of the 16/0 stuff. It's not bad in the smaller sizes, just not life changing enough for me to sway my shopping habits. I do not like the bigger sizes at all though.I am a Danville and UTC guy. I did have a couple bad spools of UTC a couple years ago, I think they got it straightened out though.Ive only got so many instances of having the thread catch, fray and break during the whip finish knot on an otherwise perfectly proportioned catskill dry that took me 10 min to tie before I gave up on UTC altogether. Give your bobbin an untwist with the Veevus- you’ll find it lays down just as good as UTC if not better.
